This Gold Sovereign features the first portrait of Queen Victoria (also called "the Young Head") with St George and the dragon on the back.  This is the first of three Victorian portraits and will be dated from 1871 to 1887. Gold Sovereigns contain 7.98 grams of 22-carat gold.  As British currency, the Sovereign has the advantage for larger UK investors of being CGT exempt.
